Summary:

Dr. Anthony Ferguson, lead pastor of 11th Street Baptist Church, spoke on how Philippians encourages us to live worthy of the gospel. "In verse 28, there's a third idea of what it means to align our lives with the gospel. It means that we are not frightened by our opponents. You see, Paul had opponents when he wrote this letter. He was in jail. The Philippians had opponents when this letter was written to them. And you and I have opponents, we have opponents who can hurt us. We have powerful opponents who can shame you, who can humiliate you, who can confiscate your property, who can ensure that you don't advance in your career, and who could even chop off your head. It is very natural to be afraid. Because those people have power. And yet, Paul says when we align our lives with the gospel, we will not be afraid. But rather, the opposite is we will have courage. And why? Because it says that when we do this, we actually are a sign.
