Title Regional Campus Librarian (RMC)
Location: Rocky Mountain Campus

Position Status: Part-time
Effective: September 2018
Position Summary: This position fulfills a combination of responsibilities, with primary responsibility for the general operations of the Rocky Mountain Campus regional library facility, overseeing of the collections housed within, providing reference services to students and faculty, and supervision of support staff and volunteers. Duties include reference services, cataloging and financial management.

General Responsibilities
  • Oversee opening and closing of library.
  • Promote the use of library materials and instruct students in the use of the library catalog.
  • Solicit student and faculty perceptions and needs via surveys and other viable methods.
  • Actively participates in collection analysis and development.
  • Assists in the establishment of cooperative agreements with regional theological libraries.
  • Assists Regional Campus Director in hiring of paid library staff.
  • Oversees daily training and workflow of both volunteer and part-time paid staff.
  • Maintain positive staff relations with other campus departments.
Public Services/Reference Responsibilities:
  • Instructs patrons (students, faculty and community members) in finding, evaluating and using theological research tools and resources available both locally and online
  • Develops various bibliographic aids and handouts to assist RMC and other seminary patrons
  • Develops and hosts regular orientations and training for patrons on how to use the library and resources
  • Provides course integrated library instruction for biblical, historical and theological survey courses offered at the RMC or online
  • Process and complete ILL/ICL requests
Cataloging Responsibilities:
  • Evaluates bibliographic record and materials to determine match.
  • Some copy cataloging of newly received materials.
  • Supplies cataloging information to ONT cataloger for materials needing original cataloging.
  • Oversees the physical processing of local campus library materials.
Circulation Responsibilities:
  • Manages circulation and storage of library materials.
  • Correspond with patrons regarding overdue/lost library materials and library notices.
  • Collect and deposit fines and fees.
  • Evaluates material donations to determine value to collection and maintains donor relations.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience:
  • An MLS/MLIS degree from an accredited institution completed or in process to be completed within three semesters required
  • Theological degree or training preferred
  • Progressive supervisory experience in a customer service setting
  • Experience with OCLC’s WMS software
  • A working knowledge of theological reference tools including use of traditional print and online resources
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak and perform effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to think creatively to address library patrons’ questions.

Software: Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), TechSmith Camtasia.
