Hosted by the Jonathan Edwards Center at Gateway Seminary
Register for the Print and Piety at Gateway Seminary's campus in Ontario, California, to join fellow scholars and students for a unique opportunity to explore the life, thought, and legacy of English Baptist pastor and theologian, Andrew Fuller.
Plenary sessions will be led by David Bebbington, Michael Haykin, Peter Morden, Nathan Finn and Chris Chun. Parallel papers will be presented by scholars and students on campus!

Plenary Speakers
David Bebbington is Distinguished Visiting Professor of History at Baylor University and Emeritus Professor of History at the University of Stirling in Scotland. An undergraduate and postgraduate at Jesus College, Cambridge (1968-73), he subsequently became a research fellow of Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge (1973-76). From 1976 he taught at the University of Stirling, where from 1999 to 2019 he was Professor of History. He now serves as Director of the Evangelical Studies Program at Baylor’s Institute for Studies of Religion. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. His publications include Evangelicalism in Modern Britain (1989), The Mind of Gladstone: Religion, Homer and Politics (2004); Patterns in History: A Christian Perspective on Historical Thought (4th edn, 2018), Baptists through the Centuries: A History of a Global People (2nd edn, 2018) and The Evangelical Quadrilateral (2 vols, 2021).
Michael Haykin is Director of The Andrew Fuller Center for Biblical Studies and Professor of Church History and Biblical Spirituality at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Haykin has taught Church History at different institutions in North America and abroad for over 40 years. He is a member of the Royal Historical Society and Evangelical Theological Society among others. He has authored or edited more than twenty-five books, including The Emergence of Evangelicalism: Exploring Historical Continuities. Haykin is married to Alison and they have two children.
Peter Morden is Principal of Bristol Baptist College. Before becoming Principal, Peter was Minister / Team Leader of a multi-site church in Leeds. Previously to this, he was on the staff of Spurgeon’s College for ten years, latterly as Vice Principal and Director of Training. Peter has a passion for missional discipleship and for training, releasing and supporting new generations of church planters, pioneers, and pastors. He is also passionate about equipping the whole people of God for the work of mission and ministry. His doctoral work was on the spirituality of the nineteenth-century preacher, C.H. Spurgeon, and he has published widely in the fields of Baptist and evangelical history and spirituality, with a particular interest in the intersection between spirituality, discipleship and mission.
Nathan Finn has taught church history and historical theology at two seminaries, launched a center dedicated to the spiritual formation of ministry students, served as the dean of a school of theology, and served as the chief academic officer of a university. He currently serves as Professor of Faith and Culture and directs the Institute for Faith and Culture at North Greenville University in Tigerville, SC. At North Greenville, Nathan teaches undergraduate courses for the Honors Program and directs an interdisciplinary graduate program in Christian leadership. He also supervises students in the Doctor of Philosophy program at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Nathan has authored or edited over a dozen books and written over thirty scholarly essays for books and journals. He also serves as one of the general editors for the Theology for the People of God series (B&H Academic) and the Complete Works of Andrew Fuller (Walter de Gruyter). He is a columnist for WORLD Opinions and writes frequently for Baptist Press, The Gospel Coalition, The Land Center, IACE, and other websites. He is also a book review editor for the journal Christian Higher Education and publishes a newsletter titled Think Christianly, Live Faithfully.
Chris Chun is the Director of the Jonathan Edwards Center and Department Chair of History and Theology at Gateway Seminary. He completed his PhD at the University of St Andrews, focusing on eighteenth-century Edwardsean Baptists in Britain. His most recent publication appears in the critical edition of The Complete Works of Andrew Fuller, where he contributed the volume on Universalism and Particular Redemption. He is the author of The Legacy of Jonathan Edwards in the Theology of Andrew Fuller and co-editor of Expect Great Things, Attempt Great Things: William Carey & Adoniram Judson, Mission Pioneers as well as Regeneration, Revival, and Creation, the inaugural volume of the JEC conference.
