Dr. Paul Jo joined the faculty at Gateway Seminary in 2025, where he serves as Director of the Korean English Bilingual Program and Associate Professor of New Testament Studies. Prior to this appointment, he served in the PhD department at Gateway Seminary—first as an administrative assistant, then as program coordinator, an experience he truly cherishes. During that time, he also taught as an adjunct professor of Christian Theology.
Born and raised in South Korea, Paul immigrated to the United States at the age of fifteen. Not long after his arrival, the Lord graciously saved him and called him into gospel ministry. Since then, his heart has been captivated by the call to evangelism, church planting, and preaching and teaching God’s Word. He finds great joy in serving God’s people and advancing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Paul’s academic journey reflects his deep love for Scripture and theological reflection. He earned his first PhD in New Testament studies, with a focus on the Gospel of John. His published work, Introduction to the Literary Art of the Gospel of John: A Literary Approach (Wipf and Stock, 2022), explores the literary beauty and theological depth of the Fourth Gospel. He is currently pursuing a second PhD in theology, continuing to seek greater clarity and faithfulness in the service of the church. Beyond the classroom, Paul treasures time with his family. He is joyfully married to his wife, Jiyoun, and together they delight in raising their daughter, Kelly.
