Overview

Vietnamese Hope Baptist Church in Sacramento is seeking a passionate and spiritually mature Pastoral Intern (mid seminary or near graduate) to serve within our English Ministry, with a primary focus on young adults. This paid internship is designed for seminary students, ministry residents, or recent graduates who sense a calling to pastoral ministry and desire hands-on experience in a local church setting.

As a Pastoral Intern, you will work closely with the pastoral staff, lay leaders, and volunteers to disciple young adults, strengthen community, and support the spiritual growth of our English-speaking congregation. This role provides practical ministry experience in teaching, shepherding, leadership development, and outreach within a multicultural church context. It is especially suited for those who are eager to grow in pastoral ministry while serving the next generation of believers.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in leading and discipling the Young Adults Ministry through Bible studies, small groups, mentorship, and fellowship gatherings.
Build meaningful relationships with young adults, providing spiritual encouragement, pastoral care, and guidance.
Support the planning and execution of English Ministry worship services, retreats, conferences, and special events.
Teach or facilitate Bible studies, devotionals, and other faith formation opportunities.
Partner with church leadership to develop outreach initiatives that engage young adults both within the church and in the broader Sacramento community.
Provide pastoral support during significant life events, including times of grief, crisis, transition, and spiritual struggle.
Assist in welcoming and integrating new members into the life of the English Ministry and Young Adults community.
Collaborate with ministry leaders to cultivate leadership among young adults and equip emerging leaders for service.
Contribute to ministry communications, including newsletters, devotionals, announcements, and discipleship resources.
Participate in staff meetings, ministry planning, and other leadership development opportunities.
Qualifications

Enrolled in or recently graduated from a seminary, divinity school, or graduate program in theology, pastoral ministry, or a related field.
A clear and growing commitment to Jesus Christ, with a demonstrated calling to pastoral ministry.
Agreement with the church's statement of faith and commitment to the mission and values of Vietnamese Hope Baptist Church.
Experience serving in church ministry, especially with college students, young adults, or English-speaking congregations, is preferred.
Strong teaching, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to connect relationally with young adults from diverse backgrounds.
Demonstrated spiritual maturity, humility, and a servant-hearted approach to ministry.
Ability to handle sensitive pastoral situations with wisdom, compassion, and confidentiality.
Strong organizational and leadership skills, with experience in event planning and team collaboration.
Excellent written communication skills for ministry resources and church communications.
