Tabernacle Baptist Church in Essex, Maryland is prayerfully seeking a full-time senior pastor for our multi-generational congregation. At Tabernacle Baptist Church we are passionate about reaching the lost for Christ, developing a loving relationship with our growing community and developing strong disciples for Christ. Our church is looking for a shepherd who will care for his congregation as well has his community while seeking God’s. Candidates for this position must embody 1st Timothy 3 and should follow in the model of Jesus who is the Head of the Church.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Preach the gospel during regular worship service, weekly Bible Study and other services as needed
• Officiate General and church business meetings and special occasions such as: baptisms, funerals and weddings
• Participate in church sponsored activities
• Development and oversight of senior leadership and overall congregational discipleship and Christian education
• Pastoral care as needed (such as pastoral counseling, hospital visits, weddings and funerals)
• Exhibit pastoral leadership and be proficient in developing mature believes into Christ-like leaders through training and equipping
• Be responsible for the overall administration of the church, and delegation of duties to appropriate and qualified leaders
• Meet with the church leaders on a regular basis
• Masterfully foster the spiritual growth and welfare of our church
• Be a custodian in the truth of God’s word in all spiritual matters
Qualifications:
• Must be a born-again Christian who is spiritually mature
• Have a theologically sound command of the Scripture, in agreement with the Baptist Faith & Message 2000
• Maintain interpersonal, organizational and administrative skills
• Exemplify a foundation grounded in prayer and family time
• Demonstrate a genuine love for all people
