Admin Team Member for Counseling Ministry

This hourly, full-time administrative position is a central and critical role to the Counseling Ministry. This person has a passion for people and understands that their work has an incredible impact on both the hurting individuals who call for counseling care, as well as the Church Counselor volunteers who provide the care. They have a positive and supportive attitude, are organized and self-motivated, and work well independently as well as within a team environment. There is an opportunity in this role for creative development of programs and systems which grow the ministry and its functions.
*This position is in-office/on-campus only (not remote)*
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
• Support Church Counselor volunteers administratively, practically, emotionally, and spiritually
• Supportively assess the needs of callers seeking counseling and resources
• Schedule initial appointments and manage cancellations
• Facilitate and manage various ministry functions and events
• Set up and review confidential counseling files and information
• Process and prepare counselor application files
• Inter-ministry communications to all volunteers
• Develop, edit, and finish training materials and communications
• Run Orientation for new Church Counselor volunteers
WHAT YOU HAVE DONE:
• Experience in administration and willingness to be part of a team
• General computer knowledge and experience (Word, Excel)
• Experience or education related to caring for others
• College degree (or in process) related to counseling or pastoral care or communications preferred

• Strong administrative and organizational skills, attention to detail, and consistency in following things through in a busy environment
• A good communicator
• Willingness to learn computer programs that support the ministry
• Ability to discern when to set boundaries for the good of the ministry and those receiving care
• Able to work effectively under time constraints and contribute to the team effort
• Understanding of Saddleback Church and its support resources and values
