THE OPPORTUNITY
Reata Springs Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church of about 120 in weekly attendance located in Richland, Washington. The church was planted in 1999 with a desire to see the rapidly growing surrounding community know, love, and follow Jesus. The centrality of God’s Word exists at the center of Reata’s mission and vision.
THE COMMUNITY
Richland, Washington is a part of the Tri-Cities area, which is a fast-growing, conservative leaning community. While conservative, nearly 60% of the population identifies as non religious. There is also a large Mormon demographic, making up nearly 10% of the population. What was originally a small, rural, farming community, has seen its population nearly triple in the last decade with a metro population of over 300,000 people. The area tends to be highly educated and affluent. The Hanford Nuclear Site is a large factor in the local economy and draws a large number of engineers and scientists to the area. Kiplinger, Forbes, and CNN/Money consistently rank the Tri-Cities as one of the best places to live and raise a family. For more information, visit http://www.bentonfranklintrends.org.
