General Description
• The mission of the Realm Church Pastoral team is to be a unified sub-body of the church
leading together to make disciples who are transformed by the gospel, connected in Biblical
community, living out God’s mission in their lives and protecting the doctrinal and moral purity of
the church. We are looking for a Discipleship Pastor who will dedicate his life to pursuing that
mission as a key member of a strong and healthy pastoral team.
• The Pastor of Discipleship is responsible for creating, managing, and executing the aspects of
our church that make disciples and encourage Christian maturity. This includes Community
Groups, Assimilation, Equipping, Assisting Ministry Teams & Committees, and Pastoral Care.

II. Qualifications
• The Discipleship Pastor must meet the qualifications of 1Timothy 3:1-7 & Titus 1:6-9
• The Discipleship Pastor must demonstrate a clear call to vocational ministry.
• The Discipleship Pastor must have sufficient ministry experience in discipleship ministries.
• The Discipleship Pastor must be in full agreement with our statement of faith (The Baptist Faith
and Message 2000).

• Communication Skills. Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Detail Oriented. Strong administrative, organizational and interpersonal skills. Ensures that all
tasks are done correctly, thoroughly, and with precision.
• Technological Skills. Possesses strong technology skills and the ability to learn and work with
multiple platforms while considering new digital solutions for ongoing improvement.
• A Passion for Discipleship. Must possess a clear conviction that all God’s people are to make
disciples and seek to fulfill the great commission. Knowledgeable of current discipleship
methods and models.
• A Missionary Heart. Loves to engage lost people with the gospel. Must have the ability to train
others to share their faith.
• A Team Player. Maintain a humble spirit and commitment to teamwork with other pastors, staff,
and church members.
• Trust & Confidentiality. Maintains appropriate discretion and confidentiality regarding personal
information of the people of Realm.


IV. Responsibilities and Expectations
The responsibilities of the Discipleship Pastor can be broken down into 5 major areas.
1. Community Groups
Develop and lead our church in a gospel-centered discipleship strategy in Community Groups that is
consistent with the values and mission of the church.
• Approve, suggest, or develop for all Community Study groups.
• Oversee an effective leadership development pipeline process for Community Groups.
• Ensure effective attendance records (including contact information of all attendees) are kept and then
loaded into the church database management system.
• Ensure sound doctrine is maintained in all teaching environments in the church.
• Recruit and train leaders for all Community Groups.
• Develop healthy relationships with Community Group leaders and ensure they are well-resourced to
succeed in their groups.
• Oversee the Men’s and Women’s Ministries.
• Work with Kids, Students, & Senior Adult Ministry to ensure a cohesive discipleship plan.
2. Team Pastor
Work with Pastoral Staff as church senior leadership team to strategize around preaching, engaging and
and ministering to our community.
• This position reports directly to the lead team Pastor.
• This position directly overseas all leadership in the areas specified in this description, CG's and
Volunteer Leaders.
• Meet weekly with pastoral staff around Sunday services and quarterly/annual objectives.
3. Assimilation
Develop and lead our church in a strategy to help guests feel welcomed, take next steps, get connected in
Community Groups, and engaged in service.
• Oversee welcome team, guest follow up, and new member’s class.
• Ensure that current Community information is available in print and online.
• Help people discover their spiritual gifting and a place to serve.
4. Equipping
Ensure that every member is well trained to serve the church, share the gospel, and disciple
others.
• Regularly assess the current needs of the body and provide training accordingly.
• Develop classes and training to better equip our church to make disciples.
5. General Pastoral Duties
This position is first and foremost a team-pastoral position. Therefore there are several pastoral
duties that this person will be expected to perform.
• Maintain a Healthy Faith
• Fight to remain spiritually and emotionally healthy
• Regularly Preach (around once a month)
• Conduct weddings/funerals.
• Provide Biblical counseling.
• Attend staff meetings.
• Attend worship services.
• Oversee the budget for the discipleship ministry of the church.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Lead Team Pastor.
