Job description: The OBC Associate Pastor is a full-time position responsible for leading the family ministries at OBC. He is responsible for overseeing the teaching and equipping of students (from nursery school age through young adult) in their spiritual growth, the equipping of parents for home discipleship, and the equipping of family ministry volunteers.
Scope: The Associate Pastor reports to the Senior Pastor, who is responsible for providing direction and supervision to the employee. The Associate Pastor works closely with the Senior Pastor, Officers, Boards, Committees, and Ministry Leaders. The OBC Personnel Committee may also provide advice and support to the Associate Pastor in matters related to the job position.

Qualifications:
● Baptized believer in Jesus Christ, and modeling spiritual growth in daily life.
● Conduct himself in private and in public according to the pastoral standards outlined in I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.
● Commitment to the Olney Baptist Church family and the Church Covenant, and agreement with OBC’s Statement of Faith.
● Agreement to become a church member, regular attendance at church services, and willingness to preach and speak in church services.
● Compassion, caring, and cooperative spirit to lead children and youth ministries, and equip students and their families to read God’s Word, share the Gospel, and grow spiritually with spiritual disciplines.
● Excellent verbal/written and organizational skills.
● Consideration will be given for Bible College studies, seminary studies and/or extensive church employment experience, but a graduate of a seminary is preferred.
● While ordination is not a requirement for this position, it is expected that the candidate will be moving in that direction in the foreseeable future.
● We also require a written Testimony regarding your personal walk with Christ.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Coordinate, develop, and maintain biblical curriculum for all children, youth and young adult ministries.
• Equip students to read God’s Word, share the Gospel, pray, serve in the church and community, and grow spiritually with spiritual disciplines. Provide practical opportunities for these to happen.
• Oversee camps, trips, mission trips, etc. for youth, children, and family events.
• Oversee outreach for the overall family ministry of OBC and all ministries which apply.
• Oversee regular programming of children, youth and young adult weekly ministries that help accomplish the mission of the OBC family ministry.
• Provide pastoral care for families and ministry volunteers.
• Identify opportunities for one-on-one spiritual conversations with students as appropriate
• Assist the Senior Pastor as he leads the entire church.

• Prepare updates as necessary for OBC business meetings, and support for OBC Committees & Ministries.


Salary/Benefits:
● This is a full-time position that requires 40 hours of work each week.
• The Associate Pastor position includes 80 hours of Paid Time Off per year.
• The compensation ranges from $50,000-$60,000 depending on experience and ordination status.
• There is a modest amount of money available for assisting in relocation costs.
• Health insurance is a possibility through the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware.

Work Hours/Environment:
● This position primarily involves in the church work, and mandatory attendance at all OBC services and events, church business meetings, and Coordinating Council meetings.
• The Church office is closed on federal holidays and for inclement weather when the Federal Government, Montgomery County Government, and/or Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) closes. When MCPS closes, staff are allowed to work from home.
