Job Overview
Metro East Baptist Church (MEBC) is seeking a Senior Pastor who can minister in agreement with church appointed lay elders to the congregation and the surrounding communities. The ideal candidate will have a zeal for the truth that God has revealed in scripture and teach it with grace and clarity. He will hold to the inerrancy of the Bible and the sufficiency of the Gospel as paramount. Additionally, he will faithfully endeavour to preach the Gospel and equip believers through discipleship and sound teaching to make more disciples in the broader community.

Minimum Qualifications
The Senior Pastor at MEBC is required to meet the following standards

Called to the office of pastor/elder/overseer, as required in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9
Willing and able to engage societal culture through a biblical worldview
Must be a lifelong learner and have a teachable spirit
Exhibits a posture of prayerful dependence upon God
Practices reliance on scripture and it’s sufficiency for faith and practice
Focused on relational impact within the church and the broader community
Maintains a high view of the role of discipleship in community
Affirms and Supports the Baptist Faith & Message 2000 in whole (2023 revision)
The Senior Pastor at MEBC must also be a man of character who

Invites counsel, coaching, and constructive criticism from the body of elders
Exhibits a lifestyle of integrity, honesty, humility, and repentance
Is supported in his ministry by his wife and family
Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate for MEBC has the preferred educational and experience background noted below:

Education – Master of Divinity (MDiv)
Experience – Approximately five (5) years or more pastoral care experience
Experience – Approximately five (5) years or more expository preaching experience

Responsibilities

Areas of Pastoral Ministry

PREACHING AND TEACHING

Prepare and deliver sermons for Sunday services
Demonstrate a commitment to the gospel through expository preaching
Ensure the teaching ministries of the church are effective and biblically sound
Address cultural issues with clarity in order to make and equip disciples
Address issues of doctrine and tradition by bringing clarity from the scriptures
Equip the congregation to be Biblical Citizens prepared to engage the culture and defend Biblical truth
Lead corporate prayer meetings
PASTORAL CARE OF THE CONGREGATION

Ensures the pastoral needs of the congregation are met, such as visitation, hospital visits, and counselling, effectively utilizing elders, deacons, and staff
Conducts weddings, funerals, and provides for the observances of the church ordinances, or delegates to others on the pastoral staff as appropriate
OVERSIGHT OF CHURCH OPERATIONS

Leads and manages the church pastoral and ministerial staff (in coordination with the Personnel Committee) in their efforts to serve the church in their various roles.
Ensures effective stewardship of church resources
VISION

Work with church appointed elders to develop, implement, and promote a biblical vision for the church to the congregation and develop actionable ministry initiatives aligned with that vision.
Accountability

The Senior Pastor at MEBC is ultimately accountable to the head of the Church, Jesus Christ, and must be willing and able to work in agreement with the elders to confirm a vision and strategy for Metro East in the pursuit of the Great Commission within our local community and beyond.
