Living Rock Church (formerly First Southern Baptist Church of Pasadena, California) is looking to serve current seminary students and those seeking ministry experience by hosting pastoral interns in a local church setting.
As a church undergoing a revitalization process, an intern will receive first-hand experience in helping a church body grow to be biblically healthier, to be more Gospel-focused, and to be a disciple who makes disciples for the glory of God.
PURPOSE OF INTERNSHIP
To provide an atmosphere and opportunities within a local church to disciple, to equip, and to train men for pastoral ministry or diaconal leadership
GOALS OF INTERNSHIP
1. To learn Sunday worship service preparation and planning (including sermons)
2. To grow in personal discipling and praying for church members
3. To learn member care: visitations, hospitality, communication, membership interviews 4. To grow in utilizing feedback and review with regards to the Sunday worship gathering 5. To learn through first-hand experience the ins and outs of church leadership meetings 6. To grow in administration essentials
7. To learn about pastoral ministry through reading books and discussions
8. To mature in other aspects of ministry: weddings, funerals, conferences, seminars, etc.

5. Exposure to weekly church leadership to help the individual evaluate his own current
and future leadership in a local church
INTERNSHIP REQUIREMENTS
1) Membership: go through the entire membership process of Living Rock Church and join as a covenant member.
2) Attendance: attend all church functions and events as faithfully as possible. In a typical week, this includes Sunday School, Sunday Morning Worship, and Wednesday Bible Study. Other gatherings include Sunday Monthly Prayer and Members Meetings.
3) Mentorship: meet regularly with the pastor and be ready to discuss the current book reading for that week. During this discussion with the pastor, the previous Sunday will be reviewed, and the upcoming Sunday will be previewed.
4) Leadership: Attend all leadership meetings and other necessary meetings with the pastor.
5) Discipling and Hospitality: interact with church members monthly through meals, coffee, and other means. Participate in a Community Group.
6) Evangelism: participate in the annual flu shot clinic, Angel Tree Christmas Outreach, mission trip(s), etc.
7) Conference: attend a conference or seminar with the pastor. If possible, attend and participate at the SBC Annual Meeting as a messenger.
8) Teaching: the pastor will do his best to provide teaching opportunities whenever possible. Opportunities could include teaching a Sunday School class or Wednesday Bible study, preaching on a Sunday morning, leading Sunday Monthly Prayer, or leading a Community Group. Expect to receive feedback from the pastor.
