Associate Pastor of Music

PRINCIPAL FUNCTION:
The Associate Pastor of Music/Worship Arts is responsible for assisting the church in planning, conducting, and evaluating a comprehensive music ministry. This position reports to the senior pastor.
MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Direct the planning, coordination, operation, and evaluation of a
Comprehensive Music Ministry.
2. Coordinate the Church Music Ministry with the calendar and emphases of the church.
3. Work with the appropriate people or committee in determining the music
ministry goals, organization, leadership, facilities, finances, and administrative process.
4. Be in weekly communication with the pastor to effectively plan the
congregational services of the church. Be responsible for the selection of
appropriate music.
5. Be aware that weddings and funerals to be held in the church may require special attention. Be ready to provide counsel and leadership so that the music used is in keeping with the place of Christian worship. Where necessary, arrange and provide music for special projects, ministries, and other church related activities in cooperation with appropriate individuals or groups.
6. Direct and/or develop music groups and be responsible for leading
congregational singing. This person is responsible for the supervision of all
music leaders in the Church Music Ministry.
7. Be responsible for enlisting and training leaders for the Church Music Ministry.
8. Work in cooperation with the appropriate persons in selecting, enlisting,
training, and counseling music leaders, accompanists, and other musicians
who serve in church program organizations.
9. Coordinate the worship leadership schedules of music groups and individuals in the functions of the church.
10. Give direction to the Music Ministry in the plan of visitation and enlistment.
11. Supervise maintenance of and additions to the music library and equipment; provide musical materials, supplies, instruments, and other music equipment for use in the church's program.
12. Keep informed on current music methods, materials, promotion, and
administration, utilizing them where appropriate.
13. Coordinate the training and use of instrumentalists and vocalists in groups or as individuals.
14. Prepare an annual budget to be recommended to the Church Finance Committee.
15. Work with and develop all teams necessary to conduct worship services, including audio, drama, logistics, and visual needs.
16. Perform other such duties as assigned by the Pastor.
UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS NOT AN ENTRY-LEVEL POSITION.
There is a full program in place that needs solid leadership from day one. We have a worship band, youth band, handchimes, praise team, and choir.
REQUIREMENTS:
• a strong calling from God to minister to a multi-national church body
through music and worship arts
• a mature Christian
• a fluent English speaker
• a good team member, willing to grow
• at least a university graduate focused on music, and should have a
master’s degree from a seminary or be working toward a theological
degree
• at least 3 years of full-time church music leadership experience
