Hilltop Church Family Pastor

I. The Position
We are prayerfully looking for a Pastor to serve in administration and family ministry.

II. Requirements
A. Morally fit (Titus 1:5-9 / 1 Timothy 3:1-7)
B. Bible College or Seminary (or in process)
C. Accept Hilltop Church’s practices, core values, and the Baptist Faith & Message 2000
D. Must live in the area
E. Skill requirements:
• Expository teaching
• Oversee, manage, and grow a ministry
• Shepherd teenagers and their families
• Administrative skills

III. Responsibilities
A. Pastoral Ministry (10-15 hours)
1. Oversee the Edge Youth Ministry
2. Family Night (Tuesday evenings)
• Conduct, oversee, and grow a Family Night youth ministry
3. Miscellaneous pastoral care
• Conduct funerals, baptisms, and weddings as needed
•Emergency pastoral care
•Pulpit or Bible study supply

B.Admin/tech (10-15 hours)
1.Admin (Hilltop Church uses Planning Center as its administrative software)
• Check and distribute mail
• Guest card follow-up
• Check phone messages and reply, distribute, or email
• Add events to Planning Center calendar
• Create registration events
• Design bulletins
• Create logo/graphics
2. Social Media
• Update website
• Post to social media
3. Tech
• PC/Router maintenance
• Alarm security maintenance
• Edit and post sermons
• Run basic errands

Please note, we are willing to adjust the responsibilities based on the strength and weaknesses of a qualified candidate. Furthermore, sometimes individuals involved in youth ministry are disrespected as just a ‘youth guy.’ This is a pastoral position, not a steppingstone. Successful applicants will be a valued member of our growing leadership team.

IV. Compensation
Hilltop is offering 35-40k in compensation, depending on multiple factors. This may be divided in various ways from housing allowance, Guidestone retirement, to a healthcare sharing ministry. The successful applicant will also have professional expense funds.

Since this is a part-time position, it is understood that the successful applicant will work in the secular marketplace. The marketplace job must be flexible and mesh well with ministry.

VI. Theological Distinctives
Hilltop Church’s leaders agree the with Baptist Faith & Message 2000 but hold a few theological stances worth noting:

• Cessationism and a general rejection of Pentecostalism
• Mild complementarianism
• Historical or Dispensational Premillennialism
• A rejection of the Calvinism vs Arminianism binary
(We generally hold to paradoxalism or provisionism)
• High view of scripture
• Expository preaching and teaching
• Grammatical-historical approach to exegesis

VII. Sonora, CA
Hilltop Church is located in the quaint mountain town of Sonora, CA. Sonora’s population is about 5,000, while Tuolumne County has a population of about 55,000. It’s close to Yosemite, Dodge Ridge, Pinecrest, and miles of hiking and biking trails. Sonora’s primary economy is tourism. Since the pandemic, more people are moving to the area for a quieter life.
