ROLE SUMMARY - Meet the Elder qualifications (1 Tim. 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-8). Lead and shepherd Gresham Bible Church for the glory of God and the good of the church, and as a result, the world. The Associate Pastor will be a vocational Elder. He will be a pastoral “generalist” for the mission and health of GBC, with emphasis on Discipleship and Leadership Development in a word-driven and gospel-centered local church. He should have demonstrated competency in equipping and managing people and teams for the purpose of: glorifying God by being disciples who make disciples of all people through the transforming power of the gospel.

Primary Responsibilities
1. Develop and lead (with the Lead Pastor) a Discipleship Process
2. Leadership Development
3. Leading Ministry Leaders
4. Oversee Global Missions

Other Responsibilities
1. Teaching and Preaching
2. Discipleship
3. Evangelism
4. Other responsibilities for GBC’s health, as discerned by the Elders

Specific Weekly Expectations:
1. 40-50 hours invested in work-related activities
2. Attend at least 2 staff meetings
3. Take at least one full day of Sabbath

Person reports to - The Associate Pastor shares authority and responsibility with the other Elders. for day-to-day responsibilities, the Associate Pastor would have a reporting relationship with the Lead Pastor.

Therefore, as a pastor, you commit to growing in grace and seeking to be the kind of person reflected in 1 Timothy 3:1-7. In no way is this a call to perfection. But, you are embracing the reality that you are called to be an example.
