Job Overview
Gospel of Christ Church in Pasadena, California, is a new and upcoming church plant preparing to launch, Lord willing, in the Spring of 2025. Our church seeks to be a theologically Reformed Baptist & Multi-ethnic church with a desire to reach the distressed and blighted community of North Pasadena and plant other healthy churches throughout San Gabriel Valley in the years to come. We want the urban feel in our worship while desiring for our songs to be theologically robust, including hymns and Christ-centered lyrics. We are searching for a Musical Worship Leader to lead our Sunday worship gatherings. This part-time position has been created to enhance our weekly congregational singing unto the Lord and one another. The Pastor is currently raising support to fund this position.
Job Description
The Musical Worship Leader at GOCC will assist in leading our Sunday worship services and will work under the supervision of the Pastor(s)/Elder(s). This individual must love the Lord Jesus, agree with our Statement of Faith, be willing to become a member of our church, and demonstrate the ability to lead worship through singing and accompaniment. The pastor(s)/elder(s) of GOCC will choose the songs for each week to correspond with the sermon subject. The Musical Worship Leader will be in charge of practicing the songs with other musical worship team members and leading the musical worship time each Sunday, consisting of an average of 6-7 songs spaced throughout the Sunday gathering.
The Musical Worship Leader must be knowledgeable or willing to learn how Biblical theology connects to corporate worship. There is a strong preference for a Musical Worship Leader who has a heart for the urban context and knows how to play instruments (skill on the keys is a preference). The ideal candidate will foster a positive and prayerful environment during practice and worship services. We are preferably looking for someone desiring a long-term commitment to serving the body of Christ at GOCC and with a heart for ministry.


What GOCC is looking for in a Musical Worship Leader:
General Expectations
• Coordinate weekly with the Preaching Pastor in preparation for the Sunday morning liturgy.
• Arrange singers and musician volunteers for each service (Looking to keep the worship set-up simple with a keyboard, Cajon-drum, tambourine, perhaps guitar, and 1 or 2 other singers)
• Must be a regenerate believer who agrees with our statement of faith.

Musical Expectations:
• Lead practices with worship team volunteers on Sunday morning before the service.
• Serve as a liturgist and praise team leader during the morning service.
• Demonstrate excellent singing and accompaniment skills with an instrument such as a keyboard or guitar.

Spiritual Expectations:
• Must be a regenerate believer who agrees with our statement of faith.
• Healthy marriage (if applicable) and family relationships
• Spiritual disciplines must be prioritized, including prayer and daily time in the Word.
