Associate Pastor of Students
First Baptist Church of Clermont - Clermont, FL
Purpose
This Associate Pastor will work alongside the Lead Pastor and must be an ordained minister. He will be primarily responsible for leading the Student Ministry as well as leading the Assimilation/Evangelism Ministry in a secondary capacity. He will love people and have a passion for outreach and missions, both personally and at a ministry level within a multi-generational congregation. This Pastor has a passion for the Word of God, and the conviction and confidence to always be moving the congregation to be fully devoted followers of Christ. He lives out the Great Commission by sharing the gospel boldly.
Key Accountabilities
Student Ministry
• Casts a vision for the student ministry by recruiting and developing volunteers.
• Leads and organizes effective student programs which will fulfill the church’s purposes of evangelism, worship, discipleship, ministry, and fellowship.
• Reviews and selects curriculum and educational materials.
• Develops and implements an integrated plan that builds year after year to disciple students while effectively reaching out to the extended community of Clermont. This includes building and maintaining close relationships with the schools in our community.
• Provides counseling and develops students on an individual basis.
• Develops a ministry which enables parents to effectively evangelize and disciple their student age children.
• Administrates the ministry through effective planning while maintaining the budget, and delegating tasks as needed.
• Gains consensus and alignment with the church and ministry leaders while involving them in the process of casting a vision and creating action plans.
Additional Pastoral Ministries
Assimilation/Evangelism
• Casts and maintains a vision and strategy to evangelize the community and world, and then, assimilates them into active membership of the church.
• Develops and implements a plan that ensures continuous improvement and growth of Connection Groups by engaging the congregation.
• Maintains records of key metrics that pertain to church growth, retention, engagement, etc.
• Provides general oversight to ensure that effective attendance records are kept and processed into the church management system.
Spiritual and Worship Leadership
• Provides support to the Lead Pastor in the preaching, teaching of the Word, and pastoral ministry of the church body.
• Participates as a member of the Deacon Body.
Qualifications
Required
• Graduate of an accredited Seminary compatible with the Church’s doctrine.
• Minimum of 2-5 years associate/youth pastoral tenure.
• Demonstrates a high level of competency and excellence in the study of the scriptures, church leadership, organization, and equipping the church to be disciples.
• Married with a strong Christian family.
Experience
• Experienced working with and providing pastoral care to families and students.
• Proven leader in organizing, communicating, and positively engaging with families and students.
• Ability to organize, motivate, and work with others.
• Warm and outgoing personality; approachable.
• Ability to work under the pressure of criticism and/or deadlines.
• Works as a team player and inter-dependently.
• Well-developed organizational skills.
• Must be self-starting, flexible, and innovative.
Skills and Knowledge
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills in Microsoft Excel/Word.
• Good collaboration, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
