Emmanuel Chinese Baptist Church (ECBC) is a multi-congregational, multi-national, dynamic, and thriving church with close to 400 members and is located in Overland Park, KS, which is in the greater Kansas City metro area. ECBC is looking for an Associate English Pastor to lead the English congregation, which has about 120 regular members attending Friday night fellowship and/or Sunday morning worship. ECBC English congregation consists primarily of 2nd-generation Chinese Americans, Chinese immigrants, and Caucasians from all walks of life, including children, youth, college students, young professionals, families, mixed-race couples, singles, divorced individuals, and the elderly. We are prayerfully seeking a pastor who loves God’s Word, cares deeply for people, and is excited to shepherd a diverse English-speaking congregation within a multi-generational Chinese church.

LOCATION: Overland Park, KS
POSITION: Full-time Associate English Pastor
DENOMINATION: Southern Baptist Convention

Responsibilities
MINISTRY FOCUS: Direct the English ministries, i.e., the youth, young adult, and adult ministries. Co-work with Sunday school and English fellowship leaders, oversee outreach and discipleship activities throughout the year, and conduct weekly prayer meetings.
SERMONS: Prepare and give expository preaching as assigned. Preach at special events or retreats as assigned.
EDUCATION: Oversee the English ministry teaching curriculum. Equip Sunday school teachers. Teach Sunday school class as needed.
CONGREGATION: Collaboration and interaction with the Chinese ministry.
DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING: Provide or promote spiritual growth through individuals / small groups.
SHEPHERDING: Provide care for and counsel members through visits, calls, and emails, etc.
ADMINISTRATION: Oversee English worship service, coordinate the ministry’s meetings, special events/workshops, and attend staff meetings, deacon meetings, co-worker meetings, and other meetings as assigned.
MISSIONS: Provide, coordinate, and encourage members to support other churches, communities, or camps such as the Youth Summer Mission Project, the Sagrada Scholarship Bible camp.
EVANGELISM: Participate / outreach in sharing the Gospel in the local communities and/or abroad.

Accountability
Serve as a ministerial staff member of ECBC and report to the senior pastor
Perform special duties assigned or designated by the senior pastor of ECBC
Follow the constitution and bylaws of ECBC

Required Qualifications
A born-again Christian who has a passion for the Lord and a calling to serve in a cross-cultural church.
Experience in serving youth and young adults
Strength in preaching and aligned with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
A strong team player who works well with pastors, elders, deacons, co-workers, volunteers, and ECBC staff, and adapts quickly to the church’s operation
Fluent in English, including reading, writing, speaking, and preaching
Graduated with a degree in Master of Divinity or equivalent from an accredited seminary
US Citizenship or Permanent Resident
Preferred Qualification
Pastoral experience
Leadership experience
Ability to build meaningful relationships
Experience in Biblical counseling and discipleship
Ability to converse in Mandarin Chinese

Compensation
$65k to $75k salary
Compensation based on experience, education, and family status.
Benefits include a Retirement Contribution 403(b)
