English Ministry Associate Pastor/Director

Salary/Range: Dependent on experience, up to $50K annually
Daesung Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) in Sunnyvale, California is seeking a part time English Ministry (EM) Associate Pastor/Director. We are looking for someone who can primarily preach God’s word for the Sunday worship service and provide pastoral care for our EM congregation.

Daesung Presbyterian Church consists of a larger congregation of 1st and 2nd generation Korean-Americans. We are a small EM congregation of about 25 English speaking adults, young adults and youth within the predominantly Korean-speaking congregation. We hold separate worship services in English and Korean. Daesung EM is directed towards English speakers of all cultures and ethnicity. Daesung EM offers a regular Sunday worship service as well as weekly bible studies, fellowships, and pastoral care. Our ministry welcomes all who desire to love God and to know Him better. We provide an opportunity for those who want to show their love for God by serving others.
Ministerial responsibilities at 50% time (approximately 20 hrs/wk):
• Preparing Sunday services and delivering sermons
• Available for regular pastoral care/office hours
• Attend monthly meetings of the English Ministry leadership team
• Serve as a consultant/advisor to EM leadership for Youth group & English bible study
Applicants qualifications:
• Fluent in English; Korean skills a plus but not required
• Have a Bachelor’s degree at an accredited Seminary or completed/working towards a Master’s Degree (MDiv)
• Has experience in pastoral ministry
• Ordained or candidate for ordination a plus but not required
• Have a passion for Christ, active Christian faith and ability to work within Presbyterian Church U.S.A. beliefs and policies
• Understands and experienced working within an Asian culture
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to create spiritually challenging and meaningful worship services
• Respect for the diversity of age in our congregation
• Team player
• Commitment to developing congregational growth strategies
