Community Christian Alliance Church (CCAC; www.ccalliance.com) is a multi-generational church in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles. We are looking for a youth pastor who eagerly desires to shepherd the high school and junior high school ministry of our church. We are a mid-size church and have about 40-50 youth. We are looking for a candidate that aspires to the office of pastor/elder (1 Tim 3:1) and has been affirmed to have the character of a pastor/elder (1 Tim 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9). Job Description
1) Oversee and lead the junior high and high school ministry;
2) Disciple and train both the youth staff and the youth;
3) Partner with parents to help them disciple their children;
4) Partner with the Children’s Ministry Director, and any other ministries as the need arises;
5) Fulfill responsibilities as an elder of the church.
Goals
1) To shepherd the youth into fully functioning disciples of Jesus Christ, who increasingly:
a. Know how to take responsibility for their own spiritual growth through Bible study, prayer, fellowship, worship, evangelism, and service;
b. Are prepared to face the apologetic challenges they will encounter in college and the workplace;
c. Know how to promote the gospel among non-believers.
2) To build a culture of evangelism and to strategize effective ways to reach out to the community, so that new families and youth are continually introduced to Christ and brought into the church.
Specific Expectations
The Youth Pastor will be expected to:
1) Report directly to the senior pastor. Be prepared each week to report the past week’s major activities and the coming week’s plans.
2) Report on his ministry also at English elders’ meetings and be open to receiving suggestions and direction from the elders.
3) Be prepared to teach a message weekly on Fridays and lead a Sunday School Class on Sundays.
4) Train youth staff to teach, which may include equipping them in Bible study, pointing them to resources, and providing them with feedback on their preparation and teaching.
5) Work continually to recruit, train, and encourage volunteer staff in his ministries. This includes:
a. Discipling the youth staff and meeting with them regularly;
b. Conducting a monthly youth staff meeting.
6) Build discipleship relationships with the youth.
7) Be present for Friday-evening ministries, supervising ministries and making contact with youth and parents.
8) Be accessible to both youth, youth staff, and their parents.
9) Work towards visiting area schools to better understand our youth and their families.
a. E.g., Visit area schools of our youth (Granada, El Camino, Cleveland, Faith Baptist, Heritage) to support them in after school sports, events, Christian Clubs.
10) Pray regularly for the people who serve on the youth ministry teams. Intercede systematically for everyone under his care.
11) Steadily gain expertise in his areas of ministry
a. Pursue continuous personal development in ministry through reading, participating in appropriate conferences, and communicating with other pastors engaged in similar work.
b. Take advantage of denominational resources in children’s and youth ministries.
c. Pay attention to culture, and to the ever-evolving intellectual and spiritual challenges youth face as they seek to live out their faith in Christ.
12) Develop and maintain relationships with neighboring churches to, for example, have combined worship nights or youth events.
13) Plan and host yearly retreats for the youth.
General Expectations
As a member of CCAC’s Staff Team, he will be expected to…
1) Be fully committed to his own personal and spiritual growth, and to the health of his family. Hold himself to a pattern of a day’s rest each week, as well as regular vacation times. Lead a disciplined spiritual life, including regular Bible study and prayer as well as personal financial integrity and systematic, proportional giving.
2) Serve actively and loyally as a Licensed Worker in the Christian and Missionary Alliance and pursue ordination in the C&MA
3) Agree with CCAC’s statement of faith and hold to biblical doctrine as expressed within the statement of faith.
4) Do what’s best for the mission of CCAC.
5) Be organized, efficient, committed to time maximization and able to manage his list of responsibilities.
6) Maintain regular office hours in conjunction with the other staff pastors.
7) Be on time or early to the office, all meetings, Sunday services or anything that is on his schedule – as well as stay the full time.
8) Participate in weekly staff meetings, semi-monthly English elders’ meetings, and monthly English Ministry Team and Governing Board meetings.
