Who We Are
Community Baptist Church of San Jose is a multilingual family of believers bringing together English, Cantonese, and Mandarin-speaking congregations under one roof, creating a unique ministry environment.

The Role
We're seeking a full-time Pastor for our English Ministry who feels called to shepherd our growing congregation. The ideal candidate will be passionate about expository preaching, discipleship, and evangelism while meeting the biblical qualifications for elder leadership.

Your Primary Responsibilities
Sunday Worship & Teaching
Deliver Christ-centered, expository sermons that faithfully communicate God's Word
Oversee the English worship service, working alongside ministry teams
Lead Bible studies that deepen our congregation's biblical literacy and spiritual growth

Discipleship & Pastoral Care
Build a culture of disciple-making through small groups and mentoring relationships
Provide shepherding care through visitation, counseling, and walking alongside members in all seasons of life
Administer baptism and communion with theological clarity and reverence
Leadership
Guide the vision and strategy of the English Ministry in alignment with our church's mission
Develop and support volunteer leaders, fostering unity and gospel-centered teamwork
Conduct membership classes and prepare candidates for baptism

Young Adult Ministry
Disciple and mentor the next generation of church leaders
Lead our weekly Young Adult Group and related Sunday School ministries

Outreach & Community Engagement
Equip members to share their faith effectively in everyday contexts
Build relationships with local churches and organizations to extend our gospel witness
Support missions efforts both locally and globally

Church Unity
Collaborate with leaders across our language ministries to foster intergenerational relationships
Participate actively in church leadership meetings
Model Christlike character, humility, and joyful submission to biblical authority

Qualifications

Spiritual & Character Requirements
Demonstrates genuine faith in Christ and spiritual maturity
Meets the biblical qualifications for elder leadership (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9)
Shows wisdom in handling God's Word and a shepherd's heart for God's people

Education & Experience
Masters of Divinity from an accredited evangelical seminary
Affirms the Baptist Faith and Message (2000)
Committed to Baptist distinctives including expositional preaching, meaningful church membership, biblical church discipline, and elder plurality
Minimum 3 years pastoral experience
Demonstrated ability to minister effectively in multicultural settings
