Charity Baptist Church, a well-established rural church with under 100 members and located in Paris, Michigan, prayerfully seeks its next Pastor. This small church, located between Big Rapids, Michigan, and Reed City, Michigan, embodies the moniker of Charity by identifying and responding to the needs of a population in one of the poorest counties in the state.

Position Description
The Pastor position is full-time, with an anticipated start date of June 1, 2023, though this date can be moved if needed. The Pastor will:
• Teach and preach, including but not limited to:
o Pulpit supply on Sunday mornings;
o Presence during Sunday School on Sunday mornings; and
o Facilitation of Wednesday Bible study;
• Provide pastoral care, including but not limited to:
o Hospital visits;
o Home visits;
o Remote care; and
o Regular church office hours;
• Lead within the congregational committee governance structure of the church;
• Lead with the deacon body in church unity and service; and
• Perform other duties as designated in the Charity Baptist Church Constitution, or as needed.

Qualifications
The ideal pastoral candidate should:
• Have completed or be working to complete a degree in theology or ministry from an accredited institution;
• Fulfill the requirements of the role of pastor as defined by scripture;
• Demonstrate all fruits of the Spirit;
• Be outreach-driven towards all demographics of the church and surrounding communities;
• Be driven to equip the church to serve together in unity;
• Fully affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000;
• Serve with a spirit of humility;
• Have a demonstrated history of sound financial stewardship;
• Be committed to congregational governance;
• Hold a biblical view of deaconship;
• Be willing to be involved at all levels of Southern Baptist organization; local, state, and national;
• Be strongly committed to the Southern Baptist Convention Cooperative Program;
• Possess a spirit of cooperation with other churches; and
• Support the work of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Sexual Abuse Task Force.

Community and Church Description
Paris, Michigan, is a community in of Green Charter Township, population 3,209, of Mecosta County, Michigan. It is 5 miles north of Big Rapids, a city of 10,601 that swells to over 20,000 when Ferris State University is in session. Paris is seven miles south of Reed City, a city of 2,425, situated on the crossroads between US Highways 131 and 10. Paris is near the county line between Mecosta and Oceola Counties. The nearest major city to Paris is Grand Rapids, population 198,917, about 60 miles to the south.
Charity Baptist Church is the only Southern Baptist Convention Affiliated Church within a 30-mile radius. She is firmly committed to missions, and regularly contributes to the Southern Baptist Convention’s Cooperative Program, and Lottie Moon and Annie Armstrong offerings. She is a member of the Bay Area Baptist Association and the Baptist State Convention of Michigan.
