About the Vision

The Minister of Students and Families is a full-time position providing leadership to families of New Georgia Baptist Church (NGBC). With principal ministry to students, he will also provide leadership to the Children’s Ministry team and be a source of encouragement, counsel, and biblical teaching for families. Additionally, he will provide general pastoral and shepherding leadership to the church as a staff Minister. The perfect Minister for this role will be an initiative-taking builder who also values the input and partnership of a team. As a key leader on staff, he will foster team unity and overall church health according to the deeply held theological, philosophical, and methodological commitments of the church overall.

About the Church

Since its founding in 1873, New Georgia Baptist Church has been a light for the gospel and a pillar of ministry in Villa Rica, Georgia. NGBC is a church characterized by biblical truth, thoughtful and intentional ministry, love for their neighbors, warm relationships, and a unified staff. One of their goals is “to be a thermostat for their community rather than a thermometer.”

In addition to the traits mentioned above, missions – both around the world and local – is built into the church’s DNA. These initiatives include a ten-year partnership with IMB work in Ecuador, monthly support of indigenous pastors in India, a monthly food pantry on the church property, a school backpack ministry, support of a crisis pregnancy center, and ministry in a battered women’s shelter. New Georgia loves the gospel and loves to see people’s lives changed by it.

About the Opportunity

The Minister of Students and Families will provide leadership in three key areas:

1. Student Ministry Leadership

a. Provide direct leadership to all aspects of the Student Ministry.

b. Recruit, train, and develop adult lay leaders.

c. Communicate with students and families regularly.

d. Design and implement new ministries for students.

e. Engage in FCA and other school or on-campus activities.

f. Equip students to serve.

2. Children’s Ministry Leadership

a. Direct key leaders to plan and implement Children’s Ministry.

b. Assist with recruiting and equipping volunteers.

c. Work with leaders to develop new ministries for Children.

3. Family Ministry Leadership

a. Assist the Senior Pastor with the development and implementation of a Family Ministry strategy.

b. Exhibit spiritual leadership over his own family as an example to the flock.

c. Encourage and disciple parents to lead their family “in the Lord.”

4. Overall Pastoral and Ministry Leadership

a. Ensure good record keeping, organization, communication, and ministry administration.

b. Participate as an “all-in” member of the staff team.

c. If capable, preach on occasion in the absence of the Senior Pastor.

d. Provide pastoral ministry to the body including visitations, occasional counseling, and the officiating of weddings and funerals.
