Maybe you want to understand your Bible more deeply, serve more effectively in your church, or lay the groundwork for further study. The Diploma in Theological Studies is designed to do all three.
Gateway’s diploma programs give people who lack an undergraduate degree access to ministry preparation without admission to a master’s program. The Dp.T.S. is a two-year, 49-credit program modeled on Gateway’s Master of Theological Studies. It provides a basic understanding of the biblical and theological disciplines for three purposes:
At the heart of the program is a strong biblical and theological core: Old and New Testament introduction, biblical hermeneutics, church history, and Christian theology. Ministry formation courses and a two-term Leadership in Ministry Practicum with a peer reflection group help you connect your studies to your own spiritual growth and ministry practice. Coursework in evangelism, educational leadership, and ministry electives broadens your preparation. General electives let you follow your own interests and calling.
The Dp.T.S. can also open doors. Students who perform at a high level in their first 15 hours may qualify for admission to a master’s degree by exception. Contact the Office of the Registrar for details.
The Diploma in Theological Studies is available at all Gateway Seminary campuses and online, so you can study where you live and serve. It is open to English, Chinese-English Bilingual (CEB), and Korean-English Bilingual (KEB) students. CEB and KEB students should consult their program directors or the registrar for course details. Finishing on schedule may require some remote or online coursework.
Whether you’re a church volunteer, a ministry leader, or someone eager to grow in your faith, the Dp.T.S. offers a solid foundation for a lifetime of learning and service.
