The gospel is advancing in places where English isn’t spoken and Western assumptions don’t apply. The Diploma in Missiological Essentials equips you to engage people with the gospel in international and non-Western contexts.
Gateway’s diploma programs give people who lack an undergraduate degree access to ministry preparation without admission to a master’s program. The Dp.M.E. is a focused 36-hour program that includes all of the International Mission Board’s (IMB) core classes. That makes it a strong choice for IMB missionary candidates and anyone preparing for cross-cultural service.
The program centers on putting missiological study into practice. You’ll learn to connect your coursework with real-world ministry in international and non-Western settings. Coursework includes:
By graduation, you’ll understand worldviews, cultures, and the challenge of contextualizing the gospel at home and abroad. You’ll also build practical skills and strategies for communicating and living the gospel in church, missional, and intercultural contexts.
The program is also a pathway to further study. Its requirements intentionally overlap with the Master of Missiological Essentials, the Master of Global Engagement, and the Master of Divinity, so graduates can continue into these degrees for more focused vocational preparation. Students who perform at a high level in their first 15 hours may qualify for admission to a master’s degree by exception. Contact the Office of the Registrar for details.
If God is calling you to the nations, the Dp.M.E. offers a direct, practical route to get there.
