GO BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

The Beyond program at Gateway Seminary sends students on short-term mission trips around the world. A Beyond Trip is both experiential and educational—students gain valuable international missions experience alongside professional missionaries while earning class credit.

Qualified students must be in a master’s or diploma program and have completed at least 20 hours of study at Gateway Seminary. Students only qualify for funding through the Go Grant Fund while they are active students. Graduates are not eligible for funding through the Go Grant.
A student who qualifies for a Go Grant funded Beyond trip is only required to pay a nominal course registration fee. The Go Grant covers travel, food, lodging and tuition costs for one Beyond Trip per student.
Through two anonymous gifts totaling $4 million dollars, the Go Grant was established specifically to provide students opportunities to go on short-term mission trips. This fund will cover student mission trip costs indefinitely; as an endowed fund, mission costs will be paid through earnings rather than principal.
Yes! But only one Beyond Trip will be covered per student by the Go Grant. However, the Seminary has additional financial supports for student mission trips.
In addition to the Go Grant Fund, the Seminary manages additional funding sources for the Beyond program. Gateway Seminary, IMB APAC and the California Southern Baptist Convention have an agreement in which the Seminary receives up to $100,000 over five years to support mission trips to the APAC affinity. Other scholarships available to help fund short term trips for Gateway students include the Larry & Jean Elliot Funded Scholarship, the Homer & Mary Jackson Mission Trip Fund, and the East Asia and Pacific Rim Endowed Scholarship Agreement.
