|Position Summary:||This position provides strategic and administrative leadership for the academic programs of the Seminary and serves as Academic Dean.|

- Affirmation of the BFM2000 without qualification or reservation.
- Proven capacity for senior level administrative leadership and facilitating the faculty in their shared governance of the seminary.
- Sufficient academic publications to demonstrate commitment to scholarship.
- Awareness of SBC denominational diversity and organizational functions.
- Adequate emotional and spiritual maturity for working in a complex environment.
- Capable of working in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment in the western United States.
- Capable of articulating an educational philosophy appropriate to graduate theological education and consistent with the mission of the seminary
- Committed to educational approaches for adult learners using varied educational modalities with a balanced curriculum of foundational and vocational courses.
- Familiar with graduate accreditation standards, expectations, and processes.
- Personal spiritual commitments reflected in devotional practices, financial stewardship, marriage/family health, church participation, and missional living.
Manages subordinate employees and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Seminary's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
The candidate must possess a strong commitment to the mission of Gateway Seminary, be an active member of a Southern Baptist Church, and possess a clear understanding of Baptist history, organization, polity, and culture.
Gateway Seminary is a confessional institution owned by the Southern Baptist Convention. While the seminary serves the larger evangelical Christian community, employees must embrace the values and standards the seminary represents as it fulfills its mission of shaping Christian leaders.
The person in this position must endorse and abide by the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and lead the Seminary in accordance with and not contrary to that confessional document.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. |Skills||Education and/or Experience: PhD in a theological related field. Significant experience and demonstrated success in higher education administration at the department level or higher with experience in curriculum development, accreditation, program review, and outcomes assessment, development and implementation of innovative academic programs, and budget management.
Language Skills: Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner. Ability to read and interpret academic documents such as customer guidelines and procedures information. Ability to speak effectively before constituents or employees. Ability to communicate effectively and specifically to address problems with management. Ability to lead and influence people or groups of people toward the achievement of goals.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform advanced quantitative analysis and calculate key financial ratios. Able to read and assess published financial statements.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions and regulations/laws furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form pertaining to the industry. Strong negotiation skills.
Computer Skills: Knowledge of the Microsoft office suite (Microsoft Access Database; Microsoft Outlook; Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word); must have an aptitude for learning and working with computer applications (Jenzabar).
Other Skills and Abilities: Must be available for travel 5 – 10% of the time.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, though moderate noise can occur at meetings and social events. It is a well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.|
