Position Summary:

This position is responsible for providing technical and design support for faculty as they develop online courses for Gateway Seminary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are considered essential to the job. With or without reasonable accommodation, qualified individuals must have the ability to:
Provide Course Design Assistance:
  • Assemble online course elements into the Learning Management System including: files, quizzes, videos, and other necessary elements (Training for the learning management system is provided).
  • Provide program support by assisting with the development of resources, workshops, and tools to equip instructors for quality online instruction.
  • Manage course curriculum and video storage for archival purposes.
  • Assist online education staff and instructors by selecting and training on usage of appropriate educational technologies and delivery strategies.
  • Apply design principles to various learning resources and course assets by utilizing tools such as PowerPoint, Keynote, infographics, and video.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The candidate must possess a strong commitment to the mission of Gateway Seminary. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) from four-year college or university in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Graphic Design/Videography, or related educational/instructional field with two years of experience is preferred.
Skills: Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak and perform effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Software: Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, etc; Familiarity with online education and learning management systems; Knowledgeable about file formats of documents, images, and videos as well as skill in converting those files as needed.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; kneel, crouch, climb and balance, walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee should be capable of lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, though moderate noise can occur at meetings and social events. It is a well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
