Duarte-Monrovia Young Life is seeking a new full-time staff associate/acting area director. This person will have the opportunity to develop and grow ministry in a key part of Greater Los Angeles. The area seeks a staff person willing to:

1) Develop ministry from the ground-up.

2) Partner with local churches, schools and others passionate about students.

3) Build community among students, faculty, families, neighbors, donors and volunteers.

4) Encourage a culture of diversity, equity and belonging.

5) Have fun and help others have fun.​

There is a vibrant and diverse committee of 12 devoted community members, a small WyldLife presence with a couple of volunteers and base group of students, and a growing base of financial support. This is a great role for a self-starting entrepreneur who enjoys the challenge of being on the front end of a big opportunity.

The cities of Duarte, Monrovia and Bradbury have a combined population of approximately 58,000 people and are located in the eastern San Gabriel Valley next to the foothills. The area includes 11 target schools with more than 5,000 secondary school students from a large variety of racial and socio-economic backgrounds. Many students and families are drawn to this community because of the excellent new educational opportunities, smaller size and feel, and great access to L.A., Pasadena, Metro Gold line, and countless beautiful outdoor recreational opportunities. This is an exciting new chapter with a team committed and ready to build a long-term sustainable ministry that invites all students to the exciting adventure of life with Christ.

Responsibilities:
Spiritual Development — Leading a spiritually healthy environment in which all those connected to Young Life grow in their faith.
Direct Ministry — Modeling vibrant contact work, club, camp and Campaigners on a chosen campus.
Leadership Development — Recruiting, training and supporting a team of volunteers to serve as leaders and committee members.
Resource Development/Fundraising — Raising personal support as well as partnering with the committee to raise budgeted revenue.
Ministry Support — Practice excellence in administration and communication.
Receive Training — As required depending on experience.

Qualifications:
A deep and growing faith in Jesus.
A call to reach students with the Gospel.
Proven leadership skills.
Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Completed college degree.
