Walnut Valley Young Life is seeking a part-time mission staff person. This person will have the unique opportunity to join a brand new ministry team in a key part of the Young Life Los Angeles region. The area seeks a staff person willing to partner with current staff and volunteers to develop ministry, partnering with local churches and others passionate about students. There is a dedicated start-up board, volunteers and a growing base of financial support. This is a part-time team member role that could potentially turn into a full-time staff associate/area director role for the right individual.

​The Walnut Valley Young Life area consists of the Walnut, Diamond Bar and Rowland Heights communities and includes 14 target schools with more than 17,000 secondary school students. The student population is majority Asian-American (53%) and Hispanic (32%). Many students and families are drawn to this community because of the excellent educational opportunities. The area was started in 2020 on a volunteer basis, and this will be the first staff hire for this community.

Responsibilities:
Spiritual Development — Leading a spiritually healthy environment in which all those connected to Young Life grow in their faith.
Direct Ministry — Modeling vibrant contact work, club, camp and Campaigners on a chosen campus.
Leadership Development — Recruiting, training and supporting a team of volunteers to serve as leaders and committee members.
Resource Development/Fundraising — Raising personal support as well as partnering with the committee to raise budgeted revenue.
Ministry Support — Practice excellence in administration and communication.
Training — As required depending on experience.

Qualifications:
​A deep and growing faith in Jesus.
A call to reach students with the Gospel.
An ability to understand and reach students in a predominantly Asian-American and Hispanic culture.
Proven leadership skills.
Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Completed college degree is preferred.
