The Assistant Pastor to Youth and Young Families is responsible for developing ministries and activities that will guide the spiritual formation of high school, and post students and their families both in the church and the surrounding community. This is a full-time, pastoral position.


Responsibilities:

• Recruit, train and lead a volunteer team to work with youth and families
• Provide quality teaching and programming for students and their families
• Create and coordinate a sustainable ministry in the church, for local middle/high schools, and post college
• Develop ministries to reach and disciple young families in the community
• Partner with other local youth ministries and youth-serving organizations
• Participate in professional ministry development when available
• Develop and oversee programs for young people and families outside of Sunday mornings
• Oversee Summer Day Camp activities along with the Day Camp committee
• Some general pastoral duties for the greater church body at times (e.g., hospital visitation, office management, preaching and teaching assignments)

Skills, Education And / or Experience:

• Ability to lead volunteers
• Pastoral heart for members, attendees, and the unchurched community
• Multicultural intelligence and agility
• Cantonese or Mandarin fluency is a plus but not required
• Experience working with adolescents and leading a student and or young person ministry (five years preferred)
• Vibrant, growing spiritual life and relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord
• Willing to become a member of the church and participate in church life
• Bachelors degree (Seminary degree preferred)

Relationships

• Reports to and serves under the Pastor and The Church Shepherding team.

The church is part of the American Baptist Churches USA. The church maintains a balance between evangelism and community ministry.
