Primary responsibility is to use their gifts, time, and effort to advance the gospel of Jesus Christ and the
ministries of Summerlin Church for the ultimate goal of knowing Christ and making Him known in Las
Vegas and around the world. This person will report directly to the senior /lead teaching pastor and work
under his leadership as well as the leadership of the pastor/elder team.

Qualifications for the Position
● Meets the qualifications of an elder (Titus 1:6-9 and 1 Tim. 3 and 1 Peter 5:1-4).
● Demonstrates a deep and growing relationship with Jesus, evidenced by personal character,
commitment to spiritual growth and love for God and others.
● Godly example of Christian character and servant leadership.
● Has a calling and heart to reach the lost and make disciples in Las Vegas, the west and around the
world. Evangelistic and missions minded.
● Passionate about spending time in the word and prayer.
● A peacemaker who pursues Godly unity in church and home.
● Able to rightly divide God’s word, articulate Biblical doctrine and defend the faith.
● Disciplined with time and financial resources. Good financial stewardship.
● Humble and teachable. Able to be led and to lead. Servant hearted.
● Possesses personality, temperament, and interpersonal skills to relate and serve effectively in a
multi-generational and multi-ethnic congregational setting.
● Ability to work in a context that can be transient with people frequently moving.
● If married, must have a healthy relationship with his spouse.
● Minimum 5+ years experience in volunteer or vocational ministry.
● Theologically aligned with Summerlin’s Statement of Faith, doctrinal positions, mission, and core values

Preferred:
● A Master of Divinity degree or Bachelor’s degree and willingness to complete a master’s degree
in a ministry-related field
● Experience in ministry to military families or a military background
● Musical ability

General Pastoral and Administrative Responsibilities
● Assist the lead pastor in the planning and execution of church services, ministries and events as
needed.
● Assist in pastoral care as needed.
● Develop preaching skills by filling the pulpit 6-9 times per year or as needed and depending on
giftedness.
● Participate in outreach and assimilation.
● Teach the Word of God. Equip believers for effective ministry.
● On Sundays, be available in the parking lot or entry areas to welcome attendees.
● Serve as Sunday morning coordinator or point of contact for volunteers and visitors during
Sunday morning worship. Specifically be available throughout the Sunday service to equip and
encourage and coordinate volunteers serving in the safety & greet teams, connections cafe and
children’s ministry.
● Be available to pray with people on Sunday mornings as needed.
● Serve as project manager on church projects as needed.
● Project manager for quarterly outreach events for the church to reach children, youth and families
with the Gospel.
● Point of contact for volunteers and contractors related to facilities management. Ensure that all
systems are working and the building is a clean, organized and welcoming environment for
worship services.
● Enthusiastically support the ministries of the church.
● Meet weekly with the senior pastor either one-on-one or in staff meetings
● Be eligible to join the executive pastoral / elder team after a trial period of time as determined by
the elder team.
● Other duties as assigned by the lead pastor and/or elder team.

Specific Responsibilities for Next Gen, Young Adult and Family Ministries
● Provide spiritual leadership and oversight to ministries that reach, assimilate and disciple
children, youth, young adults and young families or develop ministries pathways that will reach,
assimilate and equip / disciple this population with the gospel and word of God.
● Responsible for recruiting, training and leading children and youth volunteers to serve as Bible
study leaders, mentors, and other capacities needed for effective children and youth ministries.
● Plan, execute, and evaluate weekly next gen ministries such as:
○ Weekly youth Bible studies, youth gatherings and weekly children’s ministry activities.
● Support, equip and encourage parents of children and youth.
● Plan and execute monthly youth events for the purpose of fellowship, or evangelism, or worship,
or discipleship, or service.
● Plan and lead quarterly outreach events to reach children, youth and families with children or
youth.
● Follow up with families with children or youth. (letter, note, text, call)
● Plan and lead VBS and other outreaches to families with children.
● Plan camps, conferences, and mission trips involving youth or young adults. Examples: raising
money, securing transportation, enlisting counselors, attending, and supervising youth and staff
participating in these events or ministries.
● Other duties as assigned by the lead pastor and/or elder team

Demographic Information
Summerlin is a growing master planned golf course community in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is one of the
most desirable communities in the Las Vegas valley. Summerlin is a significantly unchurched community
and much of our focus is on reaching the lost and making disciples. The master planned community has
many neighborhoods with young families as well as senior neighborhoods like Sienna, Sun City, and
Trilogy; therefore our ministries are multigenerational. We are in close proximity to two Air Force bases,
which provides the opportunity to reach and impact military families for either 3 or 6 years while they are
stationed in LV. Serving near a military base also gives us the opportunity to develop spiritual leaders
amongst airmen sensing a call to ministry.
Summerlin is the home to Red Rock Canyon, Vegas Golden Knights Training Center, Las Vegas BallPark,
TPC Golf Course, and Sony Studios (coming soon). Summerlin offers beautiful parks, restaurants, shops,
hotels, and several golf courses. The Las Vegas strip is approximately a 20 minute drive from Summerlin.
Summerlin Church is a healthy gospel centered church. We value expository preaching, outreach,
