First Marion is a medium sized, multigenerational Baptist church in Eastern Arkansas. Marion is a suburb of Memphis, Tennessee with all the benefits of a small-town community while still having easy access to the city. First Marion is searching for an energetic, outgoing, and engaging leader with a pastor’s heart to serve as Minister of Students to youth in grades 7th through 12th. The responsibilities for this position include developing, overseeing, and implementing student education, evangelism, discipleship, worship, and fellowship as well as providing opportunities for students to engage in ministry and missions. The Minister of Students / Student Pastor is a full-time, salaried position reporting to the Senior Pastor. First Marion is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, Arkansas Baptist State Convention, Tri-County Baptist Association, and the Delta Network of Arkansas. The ideal candidate for this role would have/exhibit the following:
• personal relationship with Jesus Christ
• spiritual maturity while continuing to grow in faith and a strong, working knowledge of the bible
• theologically aligned with First Marion congregation and leadership
• academic degree to compliment field of ministry
• five or more years of experience in student ministry preferred
• long-term vision for student ministry with a passion for spiritually equipping the next generation and having an evident calling to vocational ministry
• qualities of being a team player, having a creative mindset, being well-rounded with the ability to connect with and minister to youth with a variety of interests, being a strong role-model of Christian values, and possessing the “people skills” of approachability and flexibility
• excellence in planning, organization, time-management, and follow through
• maintain a safe student environment conducive to learning and fellowship
• strong and effective communicator with students, parents, volunteers, and staff
